Gadgets for our motorbike trip

It is truly wild what GADGETS we think we need for our travels these days 🙂

We’re actually getting worried that we won’t manage to fit them all into our panniers on our motorbike.

And the above pic is still missing some other gadgets that weren’t available for the picture…

So here’s a list of the gadgets we have collected (we think we really need) for our trip so far:

  1. Two laptops  ⇒⇒⇒Surface Pro3 for me, Marie, and Macbook Air 13inch for Stefan
  2. Two Bluetooth mouse ⇒⇒⇒it’s really hard to just use the track pads on our laptops to blog, video and photo edit etc. We have a Logitech Ultrathin Touch and the Microsoft Designer.
  3. Two phones ⇒⇒⇒Iphone6+ for Stefan, Huawei P9 for me, which has an amazing Leica camera.
  4. Mavic Pro ⇒⇒⇒yup, we absolutely need all those cool drone shots for all the beautiful places we’re going to visit. We’re really excited to get this baby on Auto tracking..it’s supposed to be able to follow us around. I am seriously obsessed with this baby! Maybe even more than Stefan…LOL 😛 It’s a bit more complicated than expected and we are in the process of getting some much needed accessories. We’ll make a dedicated post for this gadget as soon as we complete our set.
  5. Volcano Power Bank ⇒⇒⇒This bad boy can jump-start a car! We have used it to jump-start our motorbike several times and we can charge our laptops, phones, GoPro camping lamps, flashlights etc. The only thing we haven’t found a cable for is our Mavic, but it has enough juice to charge that too!
  6. GoPro Hero 5 ⇒⇒⇒We absolutely needed a waterproof camera as we love snorkeling and when on a motorbike almost everything has to be waterproof. So far the GoPro has proven it’s worth on our many adventures. We considered getting another action cam, due to the GoPro’s higher price, but we felt that we needed something we were sure would take good footage and is hardy enough to withstand whatever may cross our paths. This baby is only a week old!
  7. Slime Power Sport Inflator ⇒⇒⇒flat tires are just part of life when on a motorbike, and because we are expecting to bring all this stuff–we also will be bringing camping and cooking gear–we need a good, yet compact, compressor to boost our tires up regularly.
  8. Garmin Zumo 340LM ⇒⇒⇒came with the map for Europe which is good as our trip will start in Den Haag, Netherlands
  9. Misc. USB powered gadgets ⇒⇒⇒camping lamps, head-strapped lights, mini fans, diving flashlights the list goes on…

So that’s our list for now…

It’s exciting, but also rather surreal that we “think” we need all these gadgets.

Here’s to hoping that we can become affiliates for these gadgets so we can make our precious $$$ back 😛

Songkran–blessings and the biggest water fight ever

Sabai Dee Bpee Mai!! Or Happy New Year–again 🙂

Last week was the Thai New Year holiday, and yup, I guess it’s always “New Years” for someone, somewhere on our exciting planet.

Of all the New Year celebrations we’ve had the privilege to experience, we think the Thai New Year takes the cake. They do it all–parties, parades, fire works, drinking, dancing until the wee hours of the morning and then add a nationwide 3 day water fight on top!

Traditionally, Songkran was a 4 day ceremony dedicated to prayers for the new year, a visit to the temples, merit making and paying respects to the elderly.

There were traditional parades and festivals with water being thrown, but it certainly wasn’t what we associate Songkran with nowadays.

When I was younger, my parents, encouraged my siblings and I to respect Thai traditions. Though we weren’t Buddhists, we would visit the old folk’s home and ask for their blessing and we would give them much needed gifts like blankets or a treat like a movie with our projector and desserts.

The traditional way to ask for a blessing and show respects to the elders is to kneel beside them (it is important for the younger one’s head to be below the elder as a show of respect) and pour a small amount of scented water over their hands. They would then give a small blessing by splashing a small amount of of scented water over your head or shoulders.

But the water blessing has taken over and morphed into a fun and crazy holiday! Now Songkran is synonymous with raucous and extravagant water fights–which I must admit is really good fun. 😀

This is our last Songkran in Thailand for awhile and while we spent most of time staying at home and packing for our upcoming motorbike trip around the world, we did get out and join the biggest water fight/music festival organized by Pepsi called #PepsiS2O

Our good friend and client, Bassim, gave us some VIP tickets so we thought why not enjoy our last Songkran and party it out with a BANG!

Fun Fact: these wrist bands were chipped. We topped them up with credit and we could buy our food and drinks with just a scan of our wrist bands. We were quite impressed

Here are some pics and a video showing the fabulous stage they set up for the festival.

Little Shameless plug for Pepsi 😀

Stefan ordered a Bacardi and Pepsi…he was expecting a glass NOT a bucket…LOL!

Sorry for the mad filming…I guess we have some ways to learn 😛

While we were still dry…

Happy and Wet!! As VIPs we could have stayed in the “dry zone” but getting wet just seemed to look like so much fun!

For those of you reading this in Thailand…we hope you had a wonderful Songkran too! 😉

Blogging Blues…quitting is NEVER a solution…

We promised a fitness motivation post every Monday…

Monday came and went and we totally forgot…

I guess I was having one of those days where I was lazy, I knew I was supposed to post but I kept procrastinating…until I forgot.

Why? Because I had the Blogging Blues. Does that happen to you? I’m pretty sure every beginner blogger has one of those days.

I just felt “blah”…

I felt that probably no one was reading my blog…so why bother blogging???

I subconsciously wanted to QUIT..

But I kicked myself in b*tt and told myself, “Who cares if no one else is reading!”

This blog is for ME and for those of you who find it (perhaps stumble upon it) you will  find something helpful.

It’s also an online journal of sorts.

Who knows, maybe this blog will blow up one day and I’ll become an uber successful blogger. And then I’ll read this post and remember from whence I came 😛

So apologies in advance for this late post. I suppose it’s better “Late than Never” and in posting a day late, I’m proving to myself that I can commit to this blog…and that I’m NOT QUITTING!!

So here’s the post (quote) that was supposed to be for yesterday. I guess I didn’t really have anything specific to share yesterday, but today I did, and this quote is exactly what I needed to come across.

I hope it helps you like it did me.

The best part of the words above is that it can be applied to so many aspects of our lives.

Stop and think about it…

Do you agree?
